GRAVEYARD OF ST. THOMAS ASHTON-IN-MAKERFIELD

F. H Oldham, Architect of John Dalton St. Manchester sent the following full detailed Inscriptions upon the several gravestones numbered 1-52 which were on ground that was going to be absorbed by the reconstruction of the church in 1891. None were on the north side. There were two documents the second starting with Memory of Ann of--- several of the burials here were dated later than 1891 it is assumed that this was a second phase of the reconstruction. There are many errors in the document possibly due to erosion of the gravestones, these have been corrected where possible and additional notes added in italics below the inscriptions.
